He achieved a total of 22 wickets in the World Cup tournament in the total overs of 83.1 having an average of 17.90.He reached his maximum delivery speed record playing against the England cricket team at Port Elizabeth in the group match stage, where his bowling speed reached his previous recorded value of 160.7 km/h. Brett Lee has also received the titles of VB Series Player awards in the years 2002-03 and 2004-05.

He was chosen for the One Day International team of the year in 2005, 2006 and also the test team of the year in 2006 by the ICC cricket awards. In the year 2000 Brett Lee received the award for the Donald Bradman Young Player in the year 2000, together with the award for the Wisden Young cricketer in the same year 1999-2000.Brett Lee won the Donald Bradman Young Player of the Year Award at the Allan Border Medal award ceremony in 2000 soon after his debut.
