Ajantha Mendis Achievements
He is an ideal replacement for legendary Muttiah Muralidaran.Ajantha
Mendis played in the first season of the IPL as a late addition for the
Kolkata Knight Riders.Ajantha Mendis is a special spinner who can
deliver off breaks, top-spinners, googlies, flippers and legbreaks and
what not. Ajantha Mendis took 6 for 13 in his eighth one-day
international. In test he beat Alec Bedser's record by two. Ajantha
Mendis started by becoming the first Sri Lankan to take eight wickets on
Test debut, and finished with 26 wickets, troubling India with his
googlies and flippers. He was the Man of the Series.
In less than 20 first class matches, he had picked up more than 110
wickets at an amazing average of about 14. In the List A matches in the
same time he looked even more dangerous and took 40 wickets at an
average of 12.
