role model of many young cricketers. He averages around 60 at that position, more than any regular No. 3 batsman
in the game's history, leaving the legendary Don Bradman. - his early nickname was 'The Wall' .He made 180 to support VVS Laxman's great innings of 281 against
Australia. He also has Longest streak of consecutive Tests since debut
-94; the best career test average among the contemporary test batsmen (58.55).
He also played vital part in the highest partnership (331 runs) in the
history of ODI cricket along with Sachin Tendulkar vs New Zealand .Has
the record of not being dismissed on duck for 120 consecutive ODI matches.
He was
the leading run scorer in the 1999 World Cup with 461 runs.
